Who is Chococat?

Chococat is a relatively small black cat with large eyes, a long tail, four whiskers, and a chocolate-colored nose, which his name is based on.

Although this little boy cat tends to be a little scatter-brained at times, he's always up on the latest news (thanks to his ultra-sensitive "antenna" whiskers!) He gets his name from his chocolate-colored nose. He has fun playing around his house (the "Choco-choco house") with his friends Cookie-bau the dog, Nutz the hamster, Jellybean the bunny and the Duckies.

My interest and love for Chococat began since childhood. I grew up with a lot of Sanrio but I was really only familiar with Hello Kitty. I was first introduced to Chococat after an inconvenient event. So when I was a child, I had this plush of a black cat I would take everywhere with me. One time when I was shopping with my family, I lost that plush. I was very sad about this, obviously, and although we looked everywhere for it I couldn't find it. So to help me cope with this, my mom gifted me a chococat plush. I wasn't too sure about it at first, but I soon began to love and care for it all the time.

My interest and love for Chococat remained pretty dormant until 2023 when I saw that there was a Sanrio character ranking. I decided to go vote for him and was kinda sad to see how he wasn't all that popular. This made me love him even more since I felt I needed to show more way more support for him seeing as how didn't have as many fans as other characters. From there, I got very invested at collecting Chococat merch. Alongside my very first Chococat plush, my collection is still growing. Much of the Chococat merch I enjoy is the vintage stuff from the 90s and 2000s. It's pretty difficult and somewhat pricy to buy, but I love it since it's of my favorite character and brings me a feeling of nostalgia.

Chococat has very much become a comfort character for me. He combines a lot of the traits I enjoy in characters and I relate to him quite a bit as well. This might sound cringe but whatever, when I feel really sad or upset I like to grab and caress my Chococat plush to calm down. As I do that, I like to think that Chococat himself is helping comfort me and it makes me feel a lot better. Even if he's a fictional character, Chococat's presence makes me happy and feel loved since I feel he's always been there to support me. As a Chococat fan, I just wish more of the world saw him how I do and showed him more love. He isn't a completely obscure character, at least not in North America or Latin America, but I still feel he deserves way more recognition!
