Please view the 'Walk of Fate' story page for a better understanding of the story.
Mika is a talented singer and among the most popular elite celebrities within the Real and Ruined Worlds. But after the disputes between The Five and the Branch of Promise, Mika's position and life has been put in danger. Aside from many failed kidnapping attempts that she has honestly been getting tired of, rumors of possible assassination threats have begun to surface. Despite all this, Mika shows herself to be calm and collected. However, her silence is broken when The Five decides to hire a bodyguard for her, without her agreeing to it. But her complaints are useless and so, she can't do anything about it. It's not that she doesn't wish to be protected, it simply infuriates her how every part of her life is controlled by anyone but her, and this is just another example of that. But this will just be something else she has to come to terms with. After all, once this is all over, Mika has the small hope that she will finally be able to quit this life.
(This whole background story is a work in progress, incomplete and subject to change) Since her childhood, Mika lived a fairly ordinary life within the District. It wasn't the most glamorous or comfortable, but it was a home. Day and night, her parents would rotate between work and home. Even when she was outside of school, their presence felt minimal to Mika. They were hardworking people, but the kind of people who believed that if they worked harder, they'd have the chance to co-exist between the gates to the Core. Even the mere pathways to the Core were worth more than their lives, and being prideful people, they despised that. So they worked and worked, and asked their daughter that she'd do the same. Mika had always been able to keep up with her responsibilities, but something caught her attention way more. This was her passion for music and singing. Starting as a little activity to pass the time, it eventually became a dedicated hobby she was naturally talented at. Her family always viewed it more like an endearing little trait, but nothing more. Her parents never paid her much attention. They were busy after all, with barely any time to see her at all. When her family didn't offer the support she wanted, she went to her school friends. But even then, none had the time to listen to her sing. There's already so much music in the world, and much more popular than hers, so why should they care. Perhaps very neglected, but Mika had bigger plans. It was around her early teen years when she began to take her singing more seriously. She was entirely self-taught and began to record covers. She couldn't afford a tutor nor access to a studio, so she just tried her best inside her tiny bedroom. Her covers didn't gain much traction online, but the internet was brand new. Eventually, she went on to write her own songs and compose music. All of this was done for her own enjoyment, but it always made her happy to see others online like her work. It would only take the 'right people' listening to her music that would change Mika's life.
Some talent scouting executives from The Five managed to find her covers and original music. And they liked it, really liked it. In a world where talent is the only means of creating fortune, they saw an opportunity to make bank. They arrived at her house one day to speak with her and her parents with the means of offering Mika a contract. For the first time in her life, all eyes were on her. It felt nice, but a bit scary too. The contract was signed instantly. Mika would no longer live with her parents and instead go on to live in the Core, so she could receive proper training. Both vocal and media training. It took a moment for Mika to realize, but she was going to be famous. Now in her late teens, most of Mika's time would be focused on training. Training was a surprisingly nice experience for her. She now had a professional studio with professional tutors and executives, and they were the ones complimenting her and telling her she was talented. Her parents, family, and classmates never gave her this attention. A nice ego boost that finally made her feel validated after all these years. Mika's debut came soon after, and it went much better than planned. The public were fascinated by her and her talent. Her managers decided to play it safe and went with a popular, universally liked image for her. The image of a young talent who came from a humble home and finally got the chance to present herself to the world. The public ate this up, but it really was Mika herself who had something special.
Before and after her debut, Mika was pretty nervous over how she would be perceived. The positive reception helped calm her down, but she didn't feel like herself.
Mika is part of a story I'm currently working on titled 'Walk of Fate'. She is one of the two main characters for this story. The basic plot: A bodyguard is hired to protect a famous singer from continuous threats, but there’s one issue: he’s also a hitman hired to eliminate her.
